"Let's put on a play!" is an invitation children can't resist.  Here are six plays you can produce with your students right now. In these 40-minute scripts Shakespeare's language is retained in all the character roles, and narrators help advance the plot.  Choose a comedy (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night, or The Tempest), a tragedy (Macbeth or Romeo and Juliet), or a history play (King Henry IV, Part I). You can use any kind of stage you like, including your classroom or a church basement, a patio or a schoolyard.

You can create costumes out of clothes you already own or can find in a thrift shop. You can use music played by the children themselves, music from CDs you like, or music from CDs suggested in the book. Props are minimal and sets are optional.
